I am arranging LD-weekend in Finland on frozen Baltic-Sea 21.-22.3.2009.
I have laser-range finder+50m steel metaltape. The competition finds place on both days.
Participation fee is 20e and I try to arrange spotters so competitors dont have to run around.
I offer accomodation for 6 people and connections to Oulu are good come you by air or train.....
Oulu is 130 000 inhabitants city.  the temperature will be around -5C-+5C

 Here are the results:
We did our best ......
1. Antti Luuri 131m
2.Mikko Juusola 122m
3.Riku Kaajakari 112m
4.Tero Siironen 89m
We used laser-range-finder and secured distances 2-3 times.
Conditions -1C, wind 8m/s, 60cm ice+15cm snow.
We had barbeque-grill where we fried sausages between 2x8 throws rounds (so each player threw 16 throws)
We were only 4 out there but I can be quite sure that the results are genuine.
 regards, Antti Luuri

good job everybody!
Any photos of the event?
Thank you for compliments....yes we have few fotos(some are in my cellphone and some in Mikko´s camera) and a 11MB-quicktime video of the winning throw(most propably that) Shall I send them to you Tibor?
What do you think of the wind we had there 8m/s?, I was suprised after getting so many good results! though my friends have sporty background. Antti and Mikko used Voyagers but Riku+Tero used LDPR(but 3mm GFEC), LDPR seemed to be easy to throw and gave good results for our most unexperienced throwers.

sure, send them to my email and I can post them here.
or you can upload them in the media gallery yourself and only send me the video. or just upload the video to youtube and post the link here.
So many choices Smiley
8m/s is 28.8 km/h. thats a pretty strong wind. I am surprised you did get that many good correct throws (as in crossing the 40 m line correctly)!!!

Hello,

Can't wait for the photos.
I found this idea beautiful, but it was not so easy to go to Finland just for 2 days.  I could not take hollidays at this time.

Wasn't it hard to find the lost booms in the snow?

Hmm. we thought also that we would have a long day searching boomerangs under snow but the date 21.3. is quite suitable after experience, sea has 60cm thick ice and the snow on it has melted few times and frozen again so there was hard cover on the snow and not more than 10cm-15cm of it. I heard that eskimoes have 150 different words for snow and guess we finns have about 50 Wink

It is this http://www.baggressive.com/copper/displayimage.php?album=7&pos=12
except I made it from 3mmGFEC....easy to thow, needs no tuning and easy to see in the air because of its bigger size and shape
